Global shipments of wearable devices increased 21.7% year over year in 3Q18, according to an IDC report. That puts shipments at around 32 million for the quarter.
The growth is reportedly due to new products from Fitbit, Garmin, and Huawei as well as demand in markets like Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) which accounted for over half of all shipments.
The United States saw a decline in year over year growth of 0.4%; however, Apple did well in the quarter with a purported 54% increase in shipments, year over year.
